AAP oath ceremony cost aam aadmi Rs 6 lakh

The AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal spent Rs6,33,802 on its oath-taking ceremony held at Delhi's Ramleela Maidan in late December. This was revealed through an RTI query filed by Mumbai-based RTI activist Anil Galgali. The Sheila Dikshit government's swearing-in ceremony cost the exchequer over Rs 13 lakh.
Galgali had filed an RTI application seeking information about the expenditure incurred on the oath-taking ceremonies of the Kejriwal & Sheila Dixit cabinets. In his reply, the deputy secretary of the general administration department of the Delhi government J.P. Sharma stated that Rs. 6,33,802/- was spent on the AAP government's swearing-in ceremony held on December 28, 2013. However, for the expenses incurred by other departments like the water board, fire brigade etc, Galgali was asked to file separate RTI applications as mandated by a September 24, 2010 circular of the Personnel & Training Department of the central government.
Delhi Govt. also informed Galgali that in the 2008 oath ceremony of Sheila Dixit Cabinet, the government spent Rs. 13,04,366 of which Rs.5,53,715 was spent on tent and Rs. 7,50,651 was spent on food and beverages.
The Delhi government refused to give information about the total number of people gathered in both the oath ceremonies and also the number of VIPs & VVIPs with total security strength. It also declined to give copies of the minutes of Kejriwal's cabinet meetings.
