The case was lodged by Rishi and Dimple Agarwal. Rishi, a businessman, used to make several trips to Mumbai. Through a common friend, Rishi met the actress Rekha Rana and the two allegedly were in a relationship. Rana (27) is a winner of the Miss Delhi beauty pageant and has had minor roles in a couple of films.
Speaking to MiD DAY, Dimple said, “We had bought the Mercedes worth Rs 17 lakh for our work and for our visits to clients. Since we didn’t have a permanent address, my husband Rishi gave Rana’s address for the delivery of the car. The very next day, she forced my husband to transfer the papers of the car in her name. When he refused to do so, she started threatening us with dire consequences.”
Shakedown?
The couple alleged that Rishi had been getting extortion messages in which Rana had asked for money and had written that “Laws for women are very powerful these days and she would implicate them in a case.”
MiD DAY had reported about a case lodged by Rana in Juhu police station, in which she had accused Rishi of making sexual advances towards her ('Businessman molests beauty queen thrice in five-star', December 13).
“Rishi was bailed out by a sessions court and all charges against him were dismissed,” his wife claimed. However, the actress’ threats have continued, said the duo. “It is very shocking that we paid for the car and she is driving it around without its papers.
Even after we filed an FIR, no action has been taken,” said Dimple, adding, “Two days ago, she appeared in a newspaper article, sitting on my Mercedes, claiming she had bought it with her hard-earned money. It’s a lie.” Inspector Ashok Pimple from Versova police station refusedto comment on the case.
